Social Media Strategy Success Survey

…How Successful is Your Social Media Strategy?

Are you ready to put it to the test?

Inviting 100 bloggers to put their Social Media Strategy to the test

The survey below only takes a few minutes to complete and will provide you with a high level overview of your current social media strategies and the success of them. The data you fill in will provide you with a basis of comparison of the success of future strategies, as well as a snap-shot of your current following and influence.

On which social media platform are you spending the majority of your time? How much time are you spending on social media? And what return are you getting on that ‘investment’? How effectively are you utilizing each of your social media channels to connect with followers and ultimately grow your blog and expand your reach?

These are relevant questions for any blogger or website entrepreneur. Especially if you want to take your blog from a hobby to a potential source of income; make it full-time; or keep down the number of hours a week you’re spending on social media and know that the time you’re investing, you’re using effectively, optimizing each channel to its fullest.

And if you’re yet to develop a Social Media Package, now’s the time to grab a pen and paper and collect your data.

This social media strategy success survey is a part of the #StrategySaturday initiative. Inviting busy bloggers and entrepreneurs to join a #StrategySaturday Community and Linky – Committed to developing and implementing strategies for each of our social media platforms, and assessing and quantifying the success of those strategies as we invest in them.

Social Media Strategy Success Survey

Now to put your Social Media Strategy to the test:

There are 10 questions.

Each question requires an answer – but you can choose ‘not applicable’ or ‘I don’t know’ if you want to.

All entries are anonymous – unless you choose to enter your website url and/or email.

All data will be handled anonymously.

And what am I going to do with all this data?

– Share it with you of course! Not individual surveys, but the overall results.

The response to this survey will provide insight into how we run our blogs/ websites and social media channels; what not only hugely interesting but beneficial to see which we’re proficient at using and which are draining time without necessary producing any results.

You’re obviously interested in social media. Are you ready to put your strategies to the test?

I’ve completed the survey, what next?

    • Thanks Laura, I’m so glad you got something out of it too… It certainly is a thought provoker! Really looking forward to sharing some results with you tomorrow 🙂

    • Thanks Catherine 🙂
Love how many bloggers and entrepreneurs have taken the time to fill this in. I think it’s totally essential information to know where we’re happy and where we’re not seeing the results we want! Great place to start when we want to develop successful strategies.

  1. Great post Steph, I will pop back tomorrow and do the survey as I am running out of time, just had a quick look and need to spend more time on social media methinks lol …

Thanks for sharing at the weekend blog hop..

    • Thanks Claire, I’d love to hear from you.
Seems that we all agree we need to ‘do’ something, but the idea seems as well to be associated with one of those ‘if I had 6 more hours in the day, I’d get onto this’. I hope this community demonstrates that actually you don’t need to put hours and hours more into blog development a day, you just need to start, and be consistent in developing it.
Thanks so much for your support in this project.

  2. Done. Thanks for organizing this, I’m excited! I’ve come to love social media, even though I still feel like I’m on the slow train. I’m looking forward to implementing strategies that maximize impact while minimizing the time commitment. I don’t want to be away from my family any longer than is necessary. Plus, I might be able to scrape out enough time in the day to read a good book again 🙂

    • I believe you describe what many parent bloggers long for. Doing enough, of the ‘right’ things with our Social Media channels to see results where we want them; with purposeful and intentional usage of our time so it can be kept to a minimum.

…I look forward to hearing what book you pick up 🙂

  3. Ojojoj 😉
I’m getting a little nervous! Wish I had more time to spend to both blog and social media. Thanks Steph for kicking me in the … !

Just have to say it again Steph, you are so cool! Go on and be great!
I will share this with my Klump community (an incubator at Subtopia, Botkyrka, Stockholm).

But I didn’t understand everything. How does it work with the sharing linkies?

    kram!

  4. I’m so glad you invited me to participate in this project Steph. I’m really curious to see what conclusions you come to as a result of it.

Thanks for sharing and for linking up to the #SHINEbloghop.

    Wishing you a lovely day.
    xoxo

  5. I’ll be having a good rumage thorugh that linky! Thought provoking post actually Steph. I will return later to do the survey. #BrilliantBlogPosts

    • So glad you enjoyed it …I love posts with that little bit of a challenge. Ones that I can’t go away from without trying to figure out how I can apply what I read.

  6. Great survey hun. Made me realise I really don’t have a clue what I am doing! No idea how to find out how many people visit my blog every day, or what social media platforms bring people to my site. I will be the perfect guinea pig for your experiments!

    • Haha, you’ve done an awesome job with your blog, so no one would have been any the wiser 😉
You’re on a self-hosted wordpress aren’t you? …If you are, we can chat – in detail!
Have you registered with Google Analytics?

    • Thanks for your feedback Debbie, I think that’s the case for MANY of us. Just setting up the survey got my mind buzzing.
There’s so much we ‘could’ do, feel like we ‘should’ do …#StrategySaturday is about structuring those efforts, making them sustainable and making them habits 🙂

  7. this has got me thinking I probably don’t do enough to promote my posts. I only put them on social media once so would be interesting to see what everyone else does.

    • I totally agree, getting this kind of insight into the way we run our blogs/ websites will be hugely interesting. I look forward to sharing the results with you 🙂

  8. Very interesting, made me realise I don’t use my subscriber list for anything other then when a post publishes and I have no feel for how successful that is! I’ve completed the survey… my social media strategy definitely needs less ‘winging it’… Facebook is my nemesis, cannot figure it out at all!!

  9. Done! Looking forward to seeing the results.

One quick note – I tried to do the survey on my iPad last night and I couldn’t as the box it was in was too wide for the screen and couldn’t be adjusted so I couldn’t see the last couple of columns. I’ve managed to do it this morning on my computer but thought I’d let you know in case there’s anything you can do to make it easier for iPad users.

    • Thank you Charlotte, and that’s really important feedback too! I’m not sure I can change the dimensions without starting a new survey – I’ll take a look at that. Then I know never to make it that wide again either. I’ll check it out on my iPad to see how much gets chopped off so I know for next time roughly how much to reduce it by.

      I can’t wait either 🙂

  10. Thanks Steph. I’ve submitted mine.

My main thing I’ve not yet got sorted out is my email newsletter. I’ve been meaning to for ages, and have got a template started, but just need the final bit working out….everything to do with social media is down to time for me. Any learnings from this to streamline will be great.

    • Email newsletter …Tell me about it! 😉

It does feel like it’s all about ‘time’ all the time doesn’t it! If we had all the time in the world there’s a LOT of things we’d do. But since we don’t – where to start; and once we’ve started – how to keep it going.

Strategic, sustainable and intentional – realistic ambitions that can make all the difference.

      Loving it!

  11. This sounds like a huge amount of work for you, so thank you for taking it on! I’ve done the survey and signed up, thanks also for suggesting it to me. I know a lot about the theory of social media but I’m pretty hopeless at actually putting it all into practice. Often I feel rather alone and certainly feel like I’m winging it! This will make me focus and I like the idea of the group support/linky. Yay to 2015 awesomeness!!

    • Thanks Lou! This has been in the planning since the end of November …Now’s when I dare to jump 🙂
I’m really looking forward to it. With a good plan and a great community there’s potential for all of us to get so much further than we would have alone. And far more chance for all of us to pursue strategy development consistently too!
