California here we come!

I CAN’T BELIVE IT 🙂

I mean, it’s us that are planning it.

It’s us that…

But it’s not until this very second, writing it, that it’s sink in!

California Baby!

Actually it’s

…Even better than that!

Yes, first we’re going to visit…

Do a little research.

Look around.

Get to know some people.

Hang out.

Have a holiday.

…Come home.

But then.

We may be totally nuts!

But why not?!

What about living somewhere else?

What about packing up our family of 5 and trying something different!

We’re not emigrating.

We’re not applying for green cards.

It looks like Mr M may be able to work there.

And we’re decided.

If it can happen.

…Why not?!

Why not dare an adventure?

Why not dare to shake life up a little bit?

Why not put ourselves out there and throw ourselves headfirst into another culture?

Why not be stretched?

Why not grow?

Why not step outside our comfort zone?

Why not risk ‘living’ even more!

Why not?

…We’ll do it together.

We’ll be in it together.

‘My home is where you are’.

I knew that about Mr M before he ever asked whether I might consider moving to Sweden.

My home is where you are… Little monkeys that drive me nuts 😉

My home is where you are.

But for now.

…Sticking to where we’re at right now!

Lets start with 6 weeks or so…

6+ weeks in California!

Excuse me for just a moment.

YAYYY!

HOLIDAY.

…We just need to buy the tickets 😉

California here we come!

Boy oh boy there’s a lot happening around here right now.

California here we come, first a holiday, then... Would you pack up your family and move them across the Atlantic?

  1. What an opportunity not to be missed! Hope you have a brilliant time planning and gathering information on this trip and an even better time while there. California is a fabulous place to be!

  2. Oh my GOD how did I miss this! So we’re coming to Sweden, and you’re going to California, and it’s all going to be AMAZING because why the hell not, indeed. Enjoy the ride, lovely, I’m so very excited for you x

    • Thank you honey x
I had no idea you’d lived in Sydney! Absolutely fantastic place, loved it there …We were in Manly for 2 months.
So looking forward to the adventures that lay ahead 🙂

  3. Wow, how exciting for you! Regardless of whether you end up moving there, 6 weeks is California sounds awesome all in it’s own right 😀

I’ve been to California, San Francisco (absolutely adored SF, would go back in a heartbeat) and then down to LA (and Anaheim, it’s actually where I had my first Disney experience going to Disneyland, oh boy, did that then turn into an addiction, haha).

You will have an amaze-balls time, I’m very jealous, and obviously good luck if the opportunity to move there happens 🙂

    • It’s a FANTASTIC place isn’t it!! We’re truly truly looking forward to our 6 weeks 😀
…And as yet, the kids haven’t been to Disney – maybe we can rectify that this time.

  4. Yay! Another Brit in California! Am so excited for you. California is awesome. You’ll have an amazing time!
It’s so exciting that you are not letting having kids stop you from being adventurous. They will benefit so much from their travels too! Do let me know if you’d like any info on things to do in San Francisco. We’ve been here 3 and a half years now and have been a regular tourist guide for many visitors…!

    • Thanks Rosie, I was so happy to discover your blog – I’ll definitely be checking out everything you’ve already posted about the area too 🙂
      – TOP TIPS for places to visit with young children… That would be awesome!

  5. The Mother says – How exciting for you. I’m feeling a bit jealous as California is one place I’ve always wanted to visit. Looking forward to reading how you all get on xx Thanks for linking to #PoCoLo

    • …Cheap flights from Sweden! You should tell your mum that 😀
My parents will fly out on a cheap ticket to Sweden and then from here to California – much better prices & fewer stops than flying straight from UK!

  6. Oh how exciting. What an amazing adventure you are about to go on. So happy for you. Thank you so much for linking up to Share With Me #sharewithme

  7. Where in California are you going? My brother used to live in Malibu and I just loved visiting him there. Often we’d see whales passing by the coastline when we were at the beach and then go on wonderful hikes in the canyons. (By the by – this included his kids, my nieces, who were little then). Wishing you an amazing trip!

    • Thanks Kriss
Plans aren’t totally finalized yet, but we’ll fly to San Francisco first.
Hikes and canyons 😀 – yes please!

  8. Oh wow that is really exciting and I’m just a little bit jealous! One of my best friends in the world is an American living in San Francisco and I dream of being able to visit her but it’s impossible now we have the boys. One day. But for you? What an amazing opportunity! I will look forward to reading all about it! Thanks for linking to #thetruthabout hon X

  9. Very exciting and.. California! That’s the place to be! Travelling is so enriching, you learn so much and open up your horizons, you better understand people’s point of view.. Good luck, I hope your dream comes true! 🙂

  10. There is this song by Phantom Planet with the same title and while I am reading your post the song started playing in my head.

Good luck with the holiday and the transfer! Such a lovely place to move =)

    • There are few things better than actually planning and booking a holiday are there! …We all need something to look forward to 🙂

  11. This is MEGA exciting! My StepDad got a job from the UK all the way to Texas, USA and do you know he & my Mum stayed there for the best part of 6yrs! So you know…things can happen but in the mean time? EXCITING!!!! Thanks for linking up! #MMWBH

  12. How VERY exciting! My dad had a transferable job so I grew up all over the world – NYC, Mumbai, Prague, Hong-Kong to name a few places. It was absolutely the best life experience ever. So I would always say go for it – new adventures, new friends, and new experiences – how can that not be amazing. I look forward to reading more about this but in the meantime have a fabulous holiday x

  13. I love the enthusiasm in every single word! Have a great holiday, and good luck on the job! I can relate to your excitement; we lived overseas for a few years, and would love to have another opportunity. I hope it works out for you!

    • Haha! That’s the thing, there might be that little bit of envy, and sure we’re convinced it’s going to be awesome! …It all certainly comes at a cost though too doesn’t it 😉 <3

  14. How fantastic. We were supposed to go to California with work, got right up to speaking to relocation agents and everything. Then Mr R got offered a much better job here. In Munich. Sob… 😀

    • Those are the bits we have little say in aren’t they …What offer/ opportunity comes up when, and what do we at the end of the day choose to go with? 🙂 …You never know, you might still end up there! And if you do …The first coffee’s on me!
