Favorite Lemon Burst Hummus

Hummus is one of my absolute favorite side dishes. On our California road trip we were buying it at least twice a week for our picnics, and as an easy snack option with baby carrots and mini bell peppers. But I have to say, we were only buying it due to a lack of a kitchen and kitchen equipment! Because nothing tastes better than homemade Hummus. I’ve yet to purchase a brand that even scratches the surface of the results you can get in your own kitchen.

So, cards on the table. There’s hummus, and then there’s hummus.

This is one of my favorite hummus twists, along with Sun-Dried Tomato Hummus.

Favorite Lemon Burst Hummus

Lemon Burst Hummus

(Serves 4 people as a side dish)

 

230g pre-cooked chickpeas

1 lemon – juice and a little zest

…(save one little slice of lemon to garnish)

2 tsp tahini paste

2-4 cloves of garlic, crushed (depending on how much you like your garlic)

3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Sea salt

Fresh ground black pepper

Add a little water to get the desired consistency

Favorite Lemon Burst Hummus is also perfect for your baby or toddler.

For babies don’t add any salt, and use only one clove of garlic. Add additional water to get the final consistency you’re looking for.

For toddlers, you’re ready to go. The recipe needs no adaptation.

  1. I’m a big fan of hummus too; could eat it till it comes out of my eyeballs! I make my own when ever I can get hold of some tahini, but that isn’t often as it’s hard to find in France. You’ve reminded me to try and find some again. #TastyTuesdays

    • Me too!! The rest of my family though 2-3 purchases a week was sufficient! Haha… There’s nothing wrong with a little variation!
      When my tahini’s run out, I don’t even run to the shop for more, if you bump up the garlic and go wild with the lemon, you won’t miss it at all – I promise you!
