Essential BBQ Sauce – Original, Lime & Garlic
There’s nothing like gorgeous summer days, warm, lazy, and out with the grill every evening! If your family is anything like mine then there’ll be a tray of condiments on the table with every meal, not least a couple of BBQ sauces! This summer’s project has been to make the Ultimate BBQ Sauce… And we did it!
And it doesn’t get more authentic than the batch below, cooked up whilst camping!
250ml ox stock (2,5dl, 1 cup)
50ml dijon mustard (0,5dl, 1/4 cup)
1 tbsp white wine vinegar
60ml worcestershire sauce (0,6dl, 1/4 cup and 1 tbsp)
100ml tomato puré (1dl, 1/2 cup)
1 1/2 tbsp hickory liquid smoke
2 tsp strong paprika
40g brown sugar (0,5dl, 1/4 cup)
Above is the basic recipe. For some variations:
Essential BBQ Sauce Lime
Add 1 lime – zest and juice
Essential BBQ Sauce Garlic
Add 3 cloves of crushed garlic
We usually make a double or triple batch and store in a jar in the fridge. It keeps for a few weeks – if you haven’t already eaten it all by then!
